Khorthall Ironliver

Khorthall Ironliver was born in 1285 AE. Standing nine feet tall, his imposing presence is softened by a charming smile and a welcoming personality.

His stature was earned through years of adventuring, as well as experience as a veteran of pit fights and countless moot brawls.

He takes up arms as a Guardian, his iron will driving him to defend those around him. Skilled in both physical and magical combat, he has proven capable of enduring even the direst circumstances. Yet despite his prowess, he often sees himself more as a brewer than a fighter.
Family
Khorthall has had his share of mates throughout his journey, and in time he was blessed with two children. The first, Haldor, was born in 1329 AE, son of his former mate Nori Bladetail, a fiery-haired Norn warrior who continues to forge her own legend. Haldor remains in Khorthall’s care to this day.

Next was Freya, born in 1331 AE, daughter of his former mate Ingrid Tharasdottir. Ingrid is a Norn necromancer known for her deep study of culture and magic in the deserts of Elona. She now cares for and teaches their daughter as she continues to pursue her own legend.
Khorthall’s journey eventually led him to Merida Nightwalker. The two first met at the Queensdale Hunting Lodge during a trade, which soon led to an invitation to Southsun Cove. From there, their time together continued through a day spent in Hoelbrak and even a trek to Kyesjard, where Khorthall met her family.

Over time, as they hunted together and trekked through the Shiverpeak Mountains, side by side in both battle and adventure, a spark of love grew between them. It eventually blossomed into commitment, culminating in a wedding ceremony on the 40th of Scion, 1333 AE, held at Lake Mourn in Hoelbrak. From that point on, Merida came to call his lodging her own home. Together, they shared quiet moments admiring the reflection of stars upon the waters of Amnoon City, as well as days of joy and merriment at local Brewfests. They have shared many chapters of life together, both in battle and in love. Bound in spirit and by their blades, they are committed to caring for and protecting one another, their shared legend, and all that lies beyond.

Art

Throughout his years, many have come to enjoy Khorthall’s brews, crafted with passion and skill. Yet he longed to strive for more. Thus began what is known as the Great Brew Tour, a journey beyond the Shiverpeak Mountains and across Tyria to share his creations and expand his trade. It began in the village of Butcher’s Block, where Radarr Boommaker, Master of Fireworks, agreed to a contract to supply Khorthall’s ales and meads.

Khorthall did not stop at Butcher’s Block, continuing south along the road to the Black Citadel. It took some convincing, but eventually Barkeep Gallowknot of the Serrated Blade Tavern agreed to a contract, drawn in by the spectacle of Norn and Charr warbands outside, sharing ales and competing in drinking contests.
After waking among passed-out Charr and Norn, Khorthall continued through the Asura gate to Lion’s Arch, where he met an old friend. A contract was soon made, and a popular bar within the beach cave near the harbor began stocking Ironliver brews. This partnership also strengthened trade, as stories of his drinks spread among sailors and even pirates across the sea.

The Great Brew Tour was coming to an end. Leaving Lion’s Arch and traveling through Gendarren Fields, Khorthall and his companions reached their final destination at the fortified Vigil Keep. With prior ties there, Khorthall was familiar with trader Domar, which led to a contract to supply his brews to the Vigil. And so, the Great Brew Tour came to its conclusion.
Khorthall eventually extended his trade to Divinity’s Reach, beginning with the Maiden’s Whisper and later the Coin. In time, his brews found their way onto the shelves of the Busted Flagon and the Ossan Oasis, aided by a partnership with the Aureate Solutions Company.

During a Brewfest celebration, Khorthall met a group of Charr known as the Flaming Cats Trading Company, famed for their coffee sourced from Elona. They struck a deal to trade coffee for Ironliver brews, a partnership that has since grown into a lasting friendship to this day.
Khorthall’s partnership with Aureate Solutions has carried his variety of brews to new horizons. From the deserts of Elona, across the seas, and into the lands of Cantha, the Ironliver Trade has achieved what few Norn brewers have before. In doing so, it stands as a testament to what legends can be reached and what is still possible.
